Hours later, after darkness had fallen and they stood together in the grainy light illuminating the turnstiles in the Charing Cross tube station, Liv was at a loss for words for the first time all day. “Colin, thank you,” she finally said.

He smiled. “It was my pleasure. Have you had a good day?”

Liv and Colin had spent the afternoon chatting and laughing as they walked through St. James’s Park and around Buckingham Palace, before eventually turning and going back toward Westminster Abbey and the River Thames. Colin led Liv past Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, stopping only briefly for a second cup of tea in a small shop off Parliament Square. They had walked for hours, but Liv had hardly noticed.

“Amazing.” Liv glanced at him. “I hope we can do it again sometime?”

“Me too.” With that, he raised his hand in a little salute. “I hope you liked the tea at the museum. It really was the perfect cup, yeah?” Laughing, she waved as Colin backed out of the station, and then she turned and went down the escalator and toward home.
